Even though I am seriously missing Twitter, I must admit that not tweeting has freed up a lot of my time. I'm not saying I like it though. I still have a crazy urge to tweet (it's an addiction.) so I just saved my random thoughts to my phone with plans to copy this idea from (one of my now IRL friends) Elizabeth, who posted her would-be tweets when she completely quit Twitter last year. I'm not nearly as strong as her though and can't see myself ever completely quitting Twitter. I don't miss the random cattiness, show spoilers and the play by play tweets of every conference/game/show, etc., but I do really miss the good chats, the funnies and of course, having something to do when work is slow :)

 

So let's get to it! Here are my "tweets" from the past few days:

+Couple next door has started their weekend pool parties. This is great news for the parents of the toddler who wakes up easily from naps.

+Violet took like 8 steps in a row tonight and I totally screamed my head off and probably scared her. AAAGH!! :)

 

+Keeping cable another month I guess because the lady at Time Warner totally suckered me in to it. #whoops

 

+Truly truly thankful that I found @ronniecorycash and that he actually likes me back :)

 

+I'll be complaining about how stupid hot it is this summer but right now I'm seriously grateful for sandals in March.

+I've decided - V is trying to kill me. Or at least give me gray hair. Her sleeping is beyond shitty lately. She better get a new tooth out of this.

+Ronnie just made me spend $20 in ingredients for some "fat bread" he's making. And now I want to smack him in his fat head. #jk #kinda

 

+V and I are spending Sunday shopping and it's currently sunny and 58. More of this, Texas!!

 

+It's when I find crusty, dirty clothing that I remember why I don't do a lot of thrift store shopping. #gross #ididntneedtoeatlunchanyway

 

+V had never seen Yo Gabba Gabba so I put it on for her tonight - now she's obsessed and I'm incredibly annoyed. Big mistake. Huge.

Daddies

If I die today, please know that I've truly loved meeting all of you wonderful ladies. If not, just know that I do currently have the world's WORST headache because I'm a total klutz and knocked the shite out of my head on the inside of my car door after reaching in to get my toppled over purse. I've done it plenty of times but today I think I saw stars. Just thought I'd inform you of this dire situation. Ronnie doesn't seem to believe it's serious but it feels effing serious. Or I'm just a big baby.

But at least before I die, I got to have an entire weekend with my favorite man ever, my daddy, Robert. And I'd love to wish him and the other Dads in my life a {belated on this blog} Happy Father's Day!

Who else can say that they fondly call their dad "stupid" or "fool" and always get the same in return? That's real love, I tell you. I definitely got my sense of humor and sarcasm from my dad and I'm so grateful for it. It probably puts me in the category of "daddy's girl" but I can honestly say that he has and always will be on my side, no matter what I've done. Of course that support always includes a lecture :) He's cheesy and drives way too slow but he loves his family like crazy and I feel incredibly lucky to have him as MY dad. I'm not sure I can explain to anyone just how much I love this man. Even through your illness, Daddy, you still have a sense of humor and strive to make all of us laugh constantly. I love you too much!

To my dear future father-in-law, Ronnie. Thank you for raising your son all on your own and for teaching him how to be the amazing man he is. You are quiet and sweet and I love just how emotional you can get - even for the tough country guy you are :) You taught your son to put his family first and taught him all your manly ways! You certainly passed down your love of George Strait too :) You're a good man and I consider myself blessed to have such a sweet {future} Father in Law!  

To my honey bunny. I know one day you will be an amazing dad just from seeing how you take care of me and our pets. You're always concerned about us, always looking to protect us and you have the biggest heart out there. I can't wait until the day you're a real dad but for now I'm happy seeing you get covered in doggy and cat kisses and loving every second of it. I love you!

+I just want to say THANK YOU all for your support and comments on my last post. Change is VERY hard for me and due to the stress of the upcoming move, I've had a consistent headache the past few days {and now this concussion?! ugh}, I've broken out with a cold sore {pretty!} and my dogs are even acting funny. It really freaking blows and I'm not looking forward to it but am trying SO hard to remain positive. All of your advice and kind words help me do that!

A Heritage Weekend

I just looked at my Google Reader and I have 60+ unread items and that's only since Saturday. Dude, y'all have been busy!! But I guess I was busy too because I haven't had the chance to sit down and catch up on y'alls blogs. I promise I will be getting to that this afternoon. Work can wait - blogging is important!!

So Saturday, I went to my cousin's bridal shower and that was a lot of fun! We played the usual silly games which made for a good time and my cousin and his future Mrs. got a ton of cool gifts. It just made me sooo impatient for my showers..and our wedding of course! ;) After that, I headed on out with my man for some errands, a yummy dinner and some late night coffee! We heard this great acoustic band at the coffee house and it was just a super chill, perfect night.

Then on Sunday...Oh, Sunday...the day Ronnie had been looking forward to ALL YEAR. The day of the San Antonio Highland Games! He was like a kid on Christmas morning, no joke. Ronnie's family is Scottish so he was beyond excited about this; it was actually kinda cute. We got to see the strong men games {and oh yes, they were in kilts!}, some viking role playing, ate some Scottish food and heard some Scottish and Irish music. It was fun!

It ended up being a really cool event and Ronnie got to feel like he was at home with his Scottish peeps! ;) He'd already done a lot of research on his family history before and was able to trace his family right down to the exact village that they came from in Scotland. That's super cool, right??

It got me to thinking though that with my family, I've just always gone with "My grandparents were from Mexico so I'm Mexican American"...but I just wonder what happened before them? My dad seems to think we have Spanish roots just a few generations before his parents but there's no one around to confirm that. My grandmother {his mom} is my only grandparent who is still alive but she's sick and unable to give much info. I've tried ancestry.com and that was hard because the Mexicans back then didn't keep good records and while I was able to find my grandparents on there, I couldn't find my great grandparents. It's pretty sad that I got stumped so early on. But I would love to know more about my history so I was actually thinking about visiting with a genealogist to see if they're able to help me. Any of y'all tried that or know someone who has?

Happy {?} Monday

I am SO not a fan of the stupid time change and I'm so not a fan of today's humid weather. But at least my bosses are still out of town all week and it was another good weekend for the books! I'm just trying hard to think positive!

Ok. Since I have the world's worst memory, I'll probably be doing a lot of weekend recaps just so I can look back on them one day! Thanks for hanging in there ;)

Saturday, Ronnie and I picked up my BFF Michelle and we headed downtown for Luminaria, a huge art festival and even though it took an hour to find a parking spot, it was worth it! The weather was awesome and sooo breezy, my favorite! We walked around forever and saw some pretty good art exhibits and got to hear a couple of decent bands but the best part was just being outside in that weather!

Afterward we walked down to the Riverwalk {very touristy of us! :p} and had some yummy margaritas and dinner at the Republic of Texas, along with some hilarious people watching.

Then we headed to a coffehouse that we love and enjoyed some yummy coffee out on their patio and the 3 of us ended up talking for a good couple hours. I'm seriously happy that my fiance and bff get along so well! :)

Yesterday we tried to sleep in but the dogs did not let us. But we managed to get out of the grump moods and have a good day! Ronnie and I went out for breakfast, did some shopping, drove around and "chose" {more like dreamt about} our favorite future neighborhoods and then went home to relax with our doggie boys. We rented the movie The Next Three Days with Russell Crowe & Elizabeth Banks and it was super suspenseful! I'd recommend it for a movie night!

After all that, today I am dead. I swear I have been going in and out of consciousness all morning and I am SO looking forward to going to bed tonight! ha! My Starbucks didn't even help and I have a freaking press release to write today for work - Lord, help me write something decent on such little sleep! :p So how was your weekend?
