Truth be told, sometimes as parents, you forget to just be you or to just be a couple. Maybe that doesn't happen in every family but it really has for us. We're both so busy with either work, baby, school... that we just don't make the time for ourselves. It irritates us so much when people are talkers and not do-ers so we've really tried to not be that way and just make shit happen! And in the recent weeks, we've actually pulled off "me" time and date time. I really, super love it.

Last Friday, we went to the Cocktail event that I'd mentioned winning tickets to. It was so nice to just have a night with my sexy bearded man! The food was yummy, the cocktails were even better AND it was all free! Oh, free beer too. Guess what we drank the most of that night? We got in a ton of people watching, listened to some good music and got to see some art. It was fun! Honestly, the crowded bar atmosphere isn't our thing anymore but we said screw it and had a blast. Go, us!

Saturday was a really great day, too. Lots of down time with our girl and we even got her crib set up for the transition from co-sleeping to sleeping on her own. (By the way, it's been amazing. We're ALL sleeping much better and should've done this long ago.) That night we met up with my friend Megan, her fiancé and their daughter, for dinner at the Boardwalk on Bulverde. It's a food truck park that we've loved going to for a long time so it was a great idea. We didn't realize though until we got there that this weekend was their Food Truck Throwdown so it was super crowded. Totally fine but heat + crowds + a tantrum-y babe don't mix. The food and company were really good but let's just say my child should've stayed home. hahaha

The rest of the weekend consisted of important things like admiring my new Old Navy clearance necklace (yes, I totally spent time admiring it), Ronnie whipping up frozen bananas into faux ice cream, sniffing Fall candles and wanting to cry because fall feels so far away and dressing up our child like a little old lady at Target...the yooj. It was a good weekend.

Thanks to Jana, I have a snazzy new blog design that I am completely in love with! I have a new button and Jana even makes her design logo match YOUR design. (see the bottom of the page) Isn't that awesome? I just gave her my ideas, a color palette and she whipped it up super fast. I highly recommend her! Check out her design page here. I really hate it when fun plans fall through (like going to the Highland Games) but then I remember NETFLIX and I'm able to move on. I have a major addiction, y'all. Seriously, it's out of hand. At some point literally every night after work, I plop down on the couch to watch 1-2 episodes of Mad Men or Breaking Bad. All this while my child plays all by herself. (This independent play thing is awesome though.) I'm pretty sure this qualifies me as 2013's Mom Of The Year.

So since Ronnie was stuck studying most of the weekend, that meant I had the TV (geez lady, move on!) and V all to myself. She and I did a lot of playing, a lot of clapping (she's finally learning how to!), a ton of reading, so much talking (kid doesn't shut up. but I love it), lots of eating, some grocery shopping, a few tantrums were had and....

I finally opened up my Instagram shop!!!

What's an Instagram shop, you ask?

Basically I set up a profile where I upload pictures of outfits and price them, people leave their PayPal email address if they want to buy, I invoice them, then I ship their items! Easy peasy. I was hesitant to start one but I finally "opened" it yesterday and have had a really good response so far. I've sent out 4 invoices already! I seriously owe Jenn all the credit. She opened up her shop a while back selling her own clothing and this is when she introduced me to the world of IG shopping! I've bought V so many things since then (that pink romper up there is from one shop!) so I wanted to join in too! If you're a new girl mama or have any preggo friends, send them my way!

I've been reading her blog for a little while and noticed she does blog design (isn't her own design gorgeous?) so I approached her about it and though she's currently taking a break from doing full blog design, she generously offered to create some design elements for me! She created my header, my "About Me" and social media buttons. She also gave me tips for updating the rest of my blog. Emily is truly amazing to work with and I'm so grateful to her for making my blog pretty! Emily's own blog is just so sweet and she talks décor, DIY, photography and gives freebies too. Her last freebie was this wallpaper which is currently on my own desktop. LOVE IT! Do yourself a favor and go visit Emily! ;)

it's fridaaaay!

Obviously I have a bad case of ants in my pants because I changed up my blog again! I got sick of the pre-made template I bought so I just did what I could in the couple of hours I had free. (at work, of course. Shhhh..When would I have time at home?! ha) It's plain and I'm sure I'll keep messing with it but for now, I'm good. At least until mama can scrounge up some money for a super fancy custom blog. One day ;)

Would you mind looking around and let me know if anything looks wonky on your end? I'm an amateur, remember...

oh and can you also take a gander at recent pictures of the babe? She's pretty cute, no? ;)

My tree is FINALLY going up tomorrow and I plan to spend lots and lots of time with my honey before I lose him to finals week....Thankfully I get him back soon after for a few weeks while he's off on winter break! So excited! Hopefully we can squeeze in taking V to get Santa pictures too. Worried about the crowds though! :/

I'm gonna make you jealous now and tell you it's just after 2pm and i'm leaving work!! There's zero to do here anyway and V has her 9 month appointment this afternoon so peace out to this joint.

A New Look + Pinterest

In the past few weeks I'd been completely obsessed with getting a new blog design but the prices were just out of the budget. Finally after seeing Brynn re-design her own blog and loving what she did, I e-mailed her and asked if I could be her first paying client! Being the nicest girl around, she refused to take any money since she doesn't "do this for a living" but she was also nervous about dissapointing. After convincing her that there's no way she could dissapoint, she took on my design!

So take a look - do you think she dissapointed? Not even close! I love everything about it! If you didn't already know, I love all things colorful (of course - I named my daughter Violet! ha) and I wanted my blog to reflect that and just how much fun I'm having with my little family. Brynn did EXACTLY what I asked for...and she did it all just for fun because she's one of the biggest sweethearts around. I SO hope she'll start designing blogs at some point because as you can see, she's really good at it. So go on over and tell Brynn how awesome she is and if you don't already follow her, do it! She tells the funniest stories!! Thanks again, Brynn!

And since I'm talking about new looks, there's TONS that I've been wanting to do around the house but I haven't had the time (or energy, to be quite honest). We bought the house last November and since then, the only rooms that have been completed are the living room and Violet's room. So these are some of the DIY projects I've found on Pinterest that I want to do and some of the pictures that have inspired me to decorate our casa!
