I've never been much of a praying person {maybe it was all those years of strict private school that did me in} but I do realize it's a powerful thing and I am definitely praying today for those in Japan. I cannot even imagine the fear they felt or what they're feeling now, having their homes destroyed and being seperated from family/friends and not having any idea where they're at. I get chills just thinking about the terror and confusion that they're feeling right now.
I'm grateful though that my cousin, who is currently working as an engineer in Japan, and his family are doing just fine. I didn't even know about what had happened and probably wouldn't have known for a while had it not been for me checking Facebook on my phone first thing this morning. My cousin's wife made sure to post a status update letting us all know they were OK.
I hate that it always takes something awful like this to really put our own lives into perspective and to realize how much we take for granted. I'm grateful today that it's Friday, it's perfectly sunny outside, I'm healthy, I have a roof over my head and I have a working car but most of all, I'm grateful that I know all of my family and friends are safe...

it's almost like a reality check to everyone that anything can happen at anytime. i stayed up all evening watching the news on japan and the other countries that the tsunami will hit. it was definitely a horrible experience trying to figure out whether my family was ok. glad to hear that your brother and his family are fine
