Our October

Nov 19, 2013

The month of October was so wonderful and I'm in shock at how quickly it came and went! I'm not complaining though because Fall in general is the point in the year that I live for and not because of fall weather (because lezbihonest, we don't really get a true Fall in Texas) but because it's the calm after the storm. It's that point where my work event's done, I got that way-too-long trip out of the way and I can just BREATHE. Work is SO quiet right now and I'm loving every second. Being this care free at work keeps me from "taking work home" and I'm just so carefree when I get there. I actually just chill out with my child, not a care in the world! I wish every day could be like that! It's just been a great time lately.

So, October. What did we do.... We took V to her 2nd ever pumpkin patch! And of course I couldn't narrow down the pictures, there are just too many cute ones! She called every pumpkin "ball" and had the best little time exploring the place. There was a pretty decent crowd but she walked around like she owned the place. Totally her dad. ha! And what a difference from when we took her to her first pumpkin patch last year, when she was a clingy acid reflux baby that wanted none of that having fun stuff. ha!

During the rest of the month...

We had some professional pictures taken of Violet since we hadn't had any taken since her 1st birthday. We've only ever had pro photos taken outdoors but this was a mini session in studio which was different but we're happy with the results!

I dressed her up in my old Raggedy Ann costume from my 2nd Halloween, it was adorable! We were thisclose to dressing her as that for Halloween but decided to do our own thing...

She had her 18 month appointment, two months late. Whoops! With all my craziness at work, we just never got around to it. Plus, she's not a fan of the doctor's office so it's not like I was excited to do it! ha She's still our teeny girl - measuring 31" tall and weighing only 23.8 pounds.

Then, Halloween! We went to Morgan's Wonderland which was absolutely perfect for a kid her age. She had the best time, she got to trick or treat from different tables and we didn't have to fight crowds. And I may be biased but she was the perfect little Snow White!

That was our October!

This month is flying by too (as time seems to do) but we've been having fun! Update on the month so far, coming soon :)

Novembah

Nov 1, 2012

I always get so excited for November 1st because that means I can no longer be called crazy (well, maybe I still am) and start my focus on Christmas!!

Pandora's Christmas music station is already going, I'm holding my coffee mug as if it's absolutely freezing outside (80 degrees. Brrr!) and I'm writing my wish list as well as my Christmas gift shopping list!

I'm just so excited that NOVEMBER IS HERE!!! But before we move on to all things Christmas, I'm gonna talk about Halloween one.last.time.

V's First Halloween didn't turn out as fabulous as I thought it would but what can you do - at least she won't remember. Ronnie got stuck at home with a paper so he had to miss her first Halloween! :( First bummer of the night.

Second, it was warm and kinda humid out. Yuck.

Third, Violet wouldn't crack a smile for anything. She was just not feeling it. (Did my boredom with Halloween wear off on her already?!). And daddy not being there DID NOT HELP. She finally snapped out of her funk but not until we went back inside, stripped her of her costume and she got to just sit and play with Grandma. Homebody like her parents, I think :)

No matter what though, it was just so fun to do this with her for the first time and (being the biased mom I am) I think she was the most adorable baby ballerina ever. Her outfit was one my co-worker handed down to me from her daughter so my mom altered it a little (V's a shorty), added ribbon to shoes I already had and then made her a tulle bow. Easy peasy and it was just precious.

Once I squashed the ballerina into her stroller (ha!) my mom and I took her up and down the street and we had fun just being a part of the crowd. A lot of people in my parents' neighborhood go all out with the decorating so there's always a huge crowd of trick or treaters. We had fun handing out candy, visiting with the neighbors and taking tons of pictures. We didn't actually trick or treat (people know the candy is for the parents!) but it was still fun!
The neighbor's house across the street and V in her stroller looking bored. ha!
My mom and her neighbor friend took lots of good pictures but this is the best of what I had on my phone. I really need to get a new camera since ours crapped out on us. After we went back inside, we ate some pizza, drank some wine and my brother and his girlfriend stopped by to hang out. Lots of laughs and overall it was a good first Halloween for V!

So now that Halloween is over, who's with me on the crazy train for Christmas?! YES!!! Come back tomorrow for a Christmas-ey giveaway!

Halloweenie

Oct 31, 2012

I'm a total bore when it comes to Halloween. I've always loved the partying side of it (because I'm a closet alcoholic) but I've never been super into dressing up. Can't I just show up to the party and drink?!

The only notable costumes from my adult years was a cowgirl, a devil and a fairy. Cute costumes and all made by my awesome seamstress mom but of course I don't have any pictures on this computer. Awesome blog move, Jess. But I do have a picture from last year because I blogged about it. I worked hard on that preggo skeleton shirt too and of course, now you can just buy the damn thing. That's what I get for being pregnant right when Pinterest was getting going!

So, tonight's plan: go to my mom's after work (her neighborhood goes all out!), take V up and down the street so she can be a part of the Halloween crowd a little, then go back to her house and be a bore there. At least I'm taking over some candy and wine. What are your plans?!

Oh and today I'm linking up with Jenn.
I really miss Savanah & Ashlee's Photo Fun Link up so I'm glad Jenn has started this one!
Freezing in my cropped pants // Sleeping beauty // Rocking the frizz // Getting crazy before bath time

DVR catch up // Daddy pulling her in the walker // Baby house shoes // Smirking child ignoring her mom. Already.

Speaking of Jenn, she and I wanted to do a San Antonio/Austin blogger meet-up this weekend and I think some people can still go but of course the ones who started this can't go after all. Sorry, guys :( But please let us know if you're available on a weekend in December. We have gots to do this!!

Have fun and be safe out there tonight. Don't be a Hallo-weenie bore like me! :p

Last night...

Nov 1, 2011

was a total bust, let me tell you.

I decided last minute to make my preggo skeleton shirt (Shout out to Pinterest!) so I spent all Sunday afternoon/evening working on it. It was then when I realized why I never ever do crafts. But amidst the stress, I did have a blast spending time with my mom who helped me and also made her own skeleton shirt (her group at work happened to be dressing up as skeletons!).

But before you assume I'm just being whiney, let me tell you, I've been really sick since last Thursday. I'm not sure what sudden hormonal change I had (you never can tell in pregnancy I guess) but my stomach has taken a turn and is sour just about 24/7 now. I'm in pain every time I eat! For someone who had no morning sickness in the beginning whatsoever, this is a completely unwelcome surprise at 23 weeks! But I kept on truckin', made my shirt and hoped that I'd feel better by Halloween.

I didn't.

So my shirt got worn to Target to pick up some Mylanta (doctor ordered)

Through the Jack in the Box drive thru (Ronnie wanted their tacos..
which I normally love but even the smell made me sick).

We went back to my parents' who were giving out candy but it ended up being nothing but teenage trick-or-treaters. Lame! Then poor Ronnie had to deal with me being a bitchy sick mess until his night got cut short because he had to study for a test he had this morning. But through all of it, he was a sweetheart and made sure we got some smiley pictures to show baby girl what "fun" we had on our last Halloween as non parentals. ha!

In case you're reading this, honey - I love you!
I couldn't have made it through Halloween without you :)

I hope y'all had a super fun Halloween!!

I'm just happy to finally be in November...Now my favorite time of year begins!!
