So lately...

Jun 14, 2012

I just haven't been feeling the blogging thing. I get discouraged when it starts to feel clique-ish and of course, being the anti kiss-ass that I am, I'm left out of the cliques. Which is fine because like the rest of you I do have a life outside of blog world and being part of the clique doesn't make or break me. Obviously.

But when I start to feel like I'm blogging for others and then get butt hurt when I feel like I'm not liked by some people, I need to step back and take a look at myself.

I'm nearly 30 years old for crying out loud.

I'm done with impressing people. Hell, my fiance's still around and I've stopped trying to impress him looong ago. ha! So I've decided I need to get back on track with my blog.

It's time to bring the focus back to ME. Back to my family. Back to MY LIFE. That was the intention of starting this blog after all.

It used to be so fun to just write about my life and then a few months later go back and read through it. I just don't feel like that's been my focus lately! I've seen posts just like this one on some of your blogs so I know I'm not alone in this and I hope the rest will understand.

Sure I'll join in the link-ups because I have fun with them but fair warning, just as I posted on Facebook recently (those of y'all who are friends have seen this I'm sure!), get ready for me to post the hell out of some Violet pictures in the near future. I was in a completely sleep deprived state her first two months and didn't post about her like I wanted to. I want to be able to look back at my blog one day and have those memories so I need to get on that.

Thanks for sticking with me and being a follower and a friend! It means more than you know!

:)

I totally get that. And I feel the same way. It's weird to keep up with some bloggers that I discovered when I first started blogging and see how their blogs have changed.

I'm happy to say that you have always been one of my favorites and I look forward to seeing some more Violet pics!

I know how you feel. Sometimes I wonder if my blog is "good enough" or if I'm writing the right things, etc. Then I remember that I started the blog as an outlet, and if people actually enjoy reading it too, that's just icing on the cake. It shouldn't be the purpose. I try to stay away from the "cliques" and I only join link ups when I enjoy it. Not that link ups are bad, but sometimes I just don't have the energy, or anything good to add. I need something in my life NOT to be a chore, and I try to make the blog be that thing. If you're not enjoying it, you just need to take a step back, re-evaluate, and figure out how you want to proceed. Good luck! I think we all get to this place at times.

I cant wait to hear all about your life and seeing Violet pictures! I started following after Violet was born and am looking forward to whatever you blog about! And don't worry you're not the only one who struggles with blog cliques. I figured by the time I was an adult cliques would have disappeared. But, Bowling For Soup says it best - "high school never ends." Haha!

i always try to remind myself why i started blogging in the first place. it wasn't to make new friends, it wasn't for people to like me. it was for me to have an outlet because i was bored out of my mind. and i've kept to that.

i shy away from many link ups because i want to write about what i want to write about. even if it is random or boring it is what i am feeling at the moment.

that is one thing i hope. i hope that my blog has not changed much from what it was intended for.

i'm here because i enjoy your blog. you do not have to impress me because the day i followed your blog i decided i liked you.

looking forward to viewing more pictures of Violet!

I think we all have moments where we get caught up in it and think ... this is not why I started blogging. Heck last week I got like 20 - 30 emails from one former follower about the font on my blog and how I needed to change it ... what do she do for work? I need that job! So after she dropped me two other people went with her...I saw that follower # drop and started to freak out. I just had to regroup and think ... my blog rocked even when it was just my mom, my aunt and my BFF reading it. So don't get down on yourself...just post what you want and make your blog yours ;)

I can't wait to see the pics!

Omg I was starting to think I was the only one who noticed that sometimes the bloggy world can get very clique-ish but I'm glad that you've decided to do what makes you happy and I look forward to seeing more violet posts!

Your blog is for you, and not for anyone else. Post whatever your heart desires, you know I will still read! :) I know what you mean about some of the clique though. It gets to be a bit much at times.

I see all the cliques on ye olde blogs and on Twitter...and just don't get it. What are they accomplishing by pretending they are better than everyone else?!

Anyway - bring on the Violet pics! I love your little pumpkin!

Awww, I don’t get the cliques either. I totally appreciate it when people spread the love, but I also feel like if you are friends in real life, just go be friends, don’t splatter it all over your blog/twitter. I hope you only blog for you from now on! I like that the best!

PLEASE post pics of little miss V!
I completely understand and relate with what you are saying.
I've been VERY torn lately on if I should keep my link up and even blog open. I don't have time most of them to respond to comments, etc, but I want to keep blogging. I try to blog for myself (vacations, cat pics, etc) instead of all the other crap that I see. So, I decided just like you to keep doing it for myself and that's all I can do.
Don't try to impress people. You don't need to!!!

Lately I've just done the link ups so I write something. I don't know why, but I'm right there with you. I could have written this post.
I like that I wrote so much about Mackenzie in the beggining. Erin will ask me when she started crawling or rolling over and I'm like, let me check my blog! :o)
Can't wait to see pictures of Violet!!

I totally feel you. I almost never do link-ups, giveaways, etc, and sometimes I feel like I'm a little out of the blogger loop because of it. But I try really hard to remember why I started my blog - to update our family on our life. From there it morphed into just sort of a diary for me, and I love going back and looking at old posts just to remember the things we did. So now I just approach it as a record-keeping thing, I suppose. I've loved meeting the people I have through blogging (you included!) but my goal is not to gain followers at all costs, it's to record this time in my life. So, I write for me.

Anyway, it's your blog. You write what you want to write and let people read if they want to. Don't write for anybody else but yourself!

And girl, you know I love me some Violet pics. So keep those coming!
