Happy Thoughts

Nov 7, 2012

I should've gone to bed at 9 last night (when Violet miraculously fell asleep - she never goes to bed that early!) but I decided to stay up and watch the election coverage. I'm happy that I got to see so much of it but my anxiety was high and I felt pretty drained after looking at Twitter.

Yes, I am ecstatic with the election results but I'm saddened by the sudden change for the worse that I saw in some people. So many nasty and horrible things were said on Twitter and Facebook and it was seriously uncalled for. Per usual I got defensive but realized today it's just not worth it. I have my opinion and you have yours so let's just deal and move on, ok? And it should go without saying at our age, but just BE RESPECTFUL, y'all. It doesn't take much.

My friends Christina and Faith both have posts today that are worth a read. I couldn't agree more with them.

Now, can we just get back to talking about Christmas, Starbucks, shopping and nail polish? Oh and link-ups.  Everyone loves a good link-up.
1 - I love these two more than words can say. Also, please slow down, time.
2 - Little Texans fan // Always with the leg up like her mom // leopard baby feet
3: Y'all know I love me some HEB. And free samples - thank you, Target!
oh and hey, I have my own domain now!
Get into it.

Thanks for the shout out! I honestly can't believe what I've been seeing. There's a difference in being disappointed and pessimistic and attacking people with opposing views. I also can't believe how much crap people are talking and stats and maps and polls they are throwing out there without really understanding what they're talking about. Think before you speak! It has been so hard to keep my mouth shut and not get defensive. I muted a few political words (and names) on twitter now and I don't have to see it. Ignorance is bliss. Great post!!! I'm off to check out Faith's blog.

Also, I'm jealous that you get to put cute bows and clips and flowers in V's hair. She's adorable! Boys don't get many accessories.

for real. people are just so nasty about the politics. it's like, we all have our own opinion, but don't bash on someone b/c they don't feel the same. just let them be. what will you resolve by bashing? nothing! but so glad it's over with. really.

yay for holidays!! love seeing these kinds of photos --happy ones! she's always dressed so cute!!! xo

I can't believe how big Violet is! She's such a cutie :)

I agree about respect. People were saying such mean things about both candidates and it's disgusting.

People were so nasty on twitter last night and earlier today. I'm trying to hold my tongue...

LOVE that you got your own domain name! Congrats! When I got mine a few months ago - I had GoDaddy on the phone for almost half an hour making them help me!

I'm so glad the election is over because I was so over the attacks on both sides. I can get into politics but what I hate more than anything is the overgeneralization of the other party, and both sides are definitely guilty of that. I hate seeing friends on FB and Twitter talking about "all Republicans are this" or "all Democrats are that," especially because those sentences generally end with adjectives like crazy/hateful/stupid/crazy/ignorant/etc. People with opposing views are not necessarily stupid, just different. We're all allowed to think differently. At the end of the day, everyone has the same goal - we all want what's best for the country, we just differ on our visions for how best to get there. Nobody is stupid or evil or what have you because their plan differs from yours.

Blah. Sorry for the rant. My political views differ from everyone in my family and most of my friends, so I take personal offense at lots of the generalizations. I think people just don't stop to think about who they REALLY might be calling these names.

On a lighter note, thank you for brining those little leopard print feet into my life! :)
