Over it.

Jan 18, 2013

I am in a mood today so I had to come back to the blog to vent and hopefully get some feedback!

ERIN CONDREN.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun because I haven't even received my planner yet but as of right now, I am over EC and would just like for my planner to arrive and to never deal with them again. I ordered my first life planner in 2011 and it was a ginormous one because it had 18 months but I loved it and loved EC! Now 2 years later I feel like Erin Condren has become way too big for their britches and they're just not delivering in the same way but they're sure as heck still asking that you pay them the same high amount for their products.

I realize all of this is totally #firstworldproblems but a planner is a big deal to me and so is spending $50 on one! So I went back and forth on whether I should order a life planner for the 2nd year in a row or go with the much cheaper, smaller and seriously cute May Books. My friend went ahead and made the decision for me when she gave me an Erin Condren gift certificate for Christmas. As all of my Twitter friends know, I was sooo freaking excited! So two friends and I placed our orders together on Jan. 3 and were given an "approximate" ship date of Jan. 15. Fast forward to today, January 18th and our planners are still in "printed" status. That doesn't mean they're even assembled and it surely doesn't mean they're close to being shipped. I contacted them yesterday morning and late in the day received a response basically reminding me of their "shipping disclaimer" (aka their approx ship date doesn't mean jack), how you have to wait for a custom item and oh yeah, it should still be another few days. He then finished the e-mail with what I'm sure is the favorite line of all Erin Condren employees: "We promise it will be worth the wait!". I'm positive that they go to sleep mumbling that line to themselves.

Worst part of it all is that I'm not alone. Check their Facebook page, their Twitter page. They're always having to apologize, they always have the same excuses. Just in my own circle of blogger friends, there's been issues and others who've heard plenty of complaints. (Crappy quality picture but you get the idea.)

I just feel now that spending $50 on a planner that I still don't have in my hands 2 weeks later and hasn't even shipped for crying out loud, is NOT a good deal. Customized or not. Am I wrong?

So as long as my planner arrives looking as it should, I'll cut my losses in not getting to use the January portion of the planner, "enjoy" it for 2013 and move on from them for 2014. I won't be buying from Erin Condren again.

Has anyone else run into an issue with EC or am I just being a crazy, whiney biatch for no reason? (Don't answer that ;)

At least it's Friday, I have a bottle of wine waiting for me at home and we get to visit Niles! Happy Friday, friends and thanks for dealing with my venting ;)

Good to know! Thanks. And hope you get your product soon?

You are totally justified!

For those who enjoy the look/feel of EC planners, please check out PlumPaper on Etsy. $30 for theirs and very similar.

I love the one I got from Target this year. Glad I was too broke for EC. I won't even consider them again. I hate poor customer service.

Girl this is the kinda stuff that drives me CRAZY! Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience. Call me tech-crazy, but I keep all my events and schedule in my outlook, so I can view on my iphone whenever I need to and I like having less paper and clutter. Best of luck!

I hope you get it soon! I don't see how they can keep customers with that kind of service (or lack thereof). :\

I've never heard of May Books! But after checking them out, I might have to purchase one! :D

Nope I'd complain too. Hopefully it ships fast and you still get it close to when it should have arrived. :(

I've got a zillion and one cookies and cupcakes in progress for Lexie's party tomorrow if a massive sugar will drown out your woes?

While I haven't had issues with them so far, so many people have and it really makes me hesitant to buy from them anymore! My next planner will be Maybooks. You can't beat the price!!

EC has some CUTE stuff but I don't really think it's worth the wait, really. Hope you get yours soon!!

Sorry to hear of your bad experience! I'd push for a partial refund or something. Have a great weekend!

So frustrating! I'm getting rid of my EC for random personal reasons so I ordered a May Book yesterday. I'll let you know how quick it comes!

I have for awhile now not understood the EC hype. I will definitely be using Maybooks in the future because EC just isn't work the money to me! Besides Maybooks is JUST as adorable as EC!

It is rather pricey for what it is. I find so many cute planners in stores! If they want to charge that much they should have excellent customer service.

Hm. Good to know! I was considering order an EC planner but just hadn't bit the really expensive bullet. Think I might reconsider.

Some of my friends ordered EC Planners and I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a planner! I ended up getting a Vera Bradley one for half the price and I LOVE it! Sorry you're having issues :-(

That sucks! Totally not worth the money. I can't believe they haven't stepped up their came with all the new business. I'm doing well with my $10 Target planner. Haha.

I was looking at their planners too. I'll look at the other ones instead.
I think you have every right to be this upset!!
Also, I never commented but I love that you have started a blog just for V to make into a book! :)

That stinks!

I hate poor customer service. I think you're totally justified in the way you feel. I hope you get it soon.

Yikes! I would feel the same as you for sure! I haven't ordered a planner from them but ordered a customized phone cover in 2011 and luckily I ordered it with lots of time because I might have freaked had it taken too long!

I've had several bloggers complaining about this in my twitter feed. I had one that complained so often Erin Condren reached out to her and finally shipped her planner. Although you shouldn't have to complain online just to get a product you ordered.

I have to say, I never got the EC hype. I learned long ago that any premade planner is going to be a waste for me. They always have sections I don't need, and lack things I do need. I started using printables found at various websites, and creating my own. It cost virtually nothing to print, a couple hours to design in Publisher, and only a few dollars to have bound at an office supply store. I divvied it up into 6 month increments so it didn't get too thick, and it contains ONLY the things I need and use.

I also bought a planner the last two years from EC, but I also ordered some photo labels February 7th and it is February 20th and I still don't have them. Three sheets of labels take three weeks to print?? Next time I will print them myself!
