A happy weekend.

Apr 22, 2013

This weekend...

The weather was PERFECT and I realized I could totally live in Texas forever and a day IF our April weather was always like this. But it's not so that's a talk for another day ;)

On Friday, we dropped this cutie off with my MIL and I got to have a REAL FREAKING DATE with her hot daddy. That's a big deal, y'all - our last date (alone!) was months ago. We went to a place called Josephine Street CafĂ© and having passed it oh, about 1000x in our time, neither of us had ever tried it! It was so good and so fun to have a real sit down meal. And we got prime patio seating. And the weather was perfect. (Have I mentioned that?) And the date was perfect. And the conversation was just so needed. Aaah, more of that please.

Since we spent a lot of time outside this weekend, this gave me the perfect lighting to obsess over my newest nail polish (Revlon Girly). It's just so well, girly, and so pretty in the sunlight!

On Saturday I shipped off packages to mamas who bought from my IG shop last week. Let me tell you, I am SO grateful to everyone who is buying from me. This has seriously been an awesome experience! Going to the post office on Saturday mornings (and getting breakfast on the way + spending about 45 minutes to myself) is a fun new routine for me. That night Ronnie made us some zucchini patties and OH EM GEE. Tastiest health food evah. Ronnie wasn't too happy with them because they fell apart so easily and just didn't look great, but I LOVED them. I'll share a recipe soon if anyone's interested!

And if you were wondering what V was up to ;) She spent her weekend attached to her "phone" (the remote), playing in her new "toy" (courtesy of the best daddy) and she hung out with me all day yesterday while I helped a friend unpack at her new place and also helped her open her own IG shop!

In between all of that, I caught up on the Dallas finale (holy crap.), started Downton Abbey Season 2 (I am completely in love with it, y'all) and did some cleaning and organizing. It was probably one of the best weekends we've had in a while :)

How was yours?

Hot but happy

Aug 4, 2011

Ain't that some bull.

My stomach actually HURTS looking at that. I'm sick of it :(

I am just waiting patiently for the days when I'll look at the forecast and gradually see it get into the 90s...then to the 80s...and then to the holy grail, the 70s! That won't be for another few months but I swear it's what I'm living for right now!!

But in other, non-complainey news we went to the doctor yesterday and got to see our little babe! To be honest with y'all, I'd been worried that maybe something was wrong because other than being tired and hungry all the time, I've had very little queasiness and NO throwing up whatsoever. I was just freaking myself out over nothing because everything is FINE. The baby has grown a lot and is doing well! :D The doctor even said "Looking at your blood work and ultrasounds so far, I'd say this is a routine pregnancy!".

Guys. Nothing about my health has ever been routine so that was the sweetest word I've ever heard! I just hope and pray this continues to be routine!

Our 10 week 3 day old baby :)

(sorry for crappy pic I took with my phone. ha! Also, it's upside down because it was an "internal" ultrasound so the pic comes out upside down.)

We've already decided on names for either a girl or boy and they both start with "S". The doctor said to plan on having the "anatomy" sonogram late September! I'm so freaking excited for that! Everyone in our immediate families (except for me, my sister and one of Ronnie's sisters) is convinced it's a boy. I'd been (selfishly) hoping that we could find out mid-September because I wanted to shop for some goodies at my company's baby products trade show in late September buuut that's just me being a brat! I'm truly TRULY just happy everything is a-ok with Baby S! :D

Hope y'all are having a fantabulous day. Stay cool, lovelies!

Summer in April & Free Target!

Apr 1, 2011

Happy April Fool's Day! I wish I could say I'm going to pull off some elaborate prank or lie, but I'm horrible at that stuff. What will happen is I'll think my plan is sooo clever and sooo hilarious that I'll just end up screwing it up somehow and give myself away immediately. Or of course, bust out laughing the moment I try and pull it off. Yeah, I suck.

But I did seriously think the weatherman was fooling us when he said this morning that temps could reach 90 today!! Yeah I said 90. Oh and don't forget, humid! But he wasn't joking therefore I now hate him. So to those of you up North, I'd love if you could talk to your local weather people to see what they can do about sending some of your cold down our way. Appreciate ya!

Ok, so even though the weather sucks, I have to think happy thoughts. It is FRIDAY after all! And to top that off, yesterday I received my Target $10 gift card in the mail just for signing up for Ebates a couple of months ago. I know, I'm totally late on that bandwagon but I absolutely LOVE that site now! Ronnie thought it was some sort of gimmick but it's FO REAL! I already got a check for close to $20! Now, to just remember to use the site every time I shop.

And the card came at the perfect time because I needed a couple things so I decided to take my happy butt to Target this morning before work and seriously, BEST way to start off the day! And may I also add, Thank you God for inventing Starbuck's inside Target!! That is why Target is officially my home away from home. So with my little ol' $10 gift card I was able to get:

{A few of these bad boys. Seriously the best snack on earth. Check it}

{Some of this stuff which my health nut fiance has demanded recommended I start taking...It's good for my little ol' heart!}

{And of course I got me a yummy drink! I needed something refreshing to handle the heat!}
 {And yes, my mouth really is that big.}

Now go and have a great day! Oh but before you go, let me leave with this quick tip: DO NOT fall for any of the fake "I'm pregnant!" announcements today. But if it turns out that person really is pregnant and you blew them off, it's their own fault for choosing today to announce it. No, that's never happened to me or I anyone I know.

Happy Friday, y'all!! :D

What I'm Loving Wednesday!!

Mar 30, 2011

I look so forward to this post all week! Jamie needs to give herself a big pat on the back for coming up with such a fun idea! :D Head over to her blog to link up too!

I am loving that my best bud at work is coming back tomorrow! She's been on maternity leave and I've really missed her!

I am loving that this Saturday is the bridal shower for my cousin Mike's future wife, Amy. She's so sweet and I'm excited to spend some time with the ladies in my family :)

I am loving me some Emerald Cinnamon Roast Almonds, 100 calorie packs lately. They totally get me through the afternoon at work... They're seriously just 100 calories and only 4 carbs! Holla!

I am loving this print that I found on none other than the wonderful Etsy! I have one cupcake print hanging in our kitchen and I'm thinking this would make a GREAT addition! :D

I am loving this Tiny Floral Pom Pom Necklace that I also found on Etsy {Does anyone have any idea what we did before Etsy?! I don't!}. Isn't it adorable? And only $14!

{Via this shop}

I am LOVING this Marc by Marc Jacobs, Classic Q Baby Groovee satchel. It's from a couple years ago but still available on zappos.com. I love the color and the style so much! Ooh and it's only $358! {Dream on, sister!}

I am head over heels in LOVE with my man. He's been extra sweet all week and I am loving him for putting up with all my complaining about my job! ha.

Happy Wednesday!! :D What are you loving this week?

Someone hold me.

I feel the sickness coming on.

Since mid last week (our first full week in the new apartment), every time the heater comes on I feel scratchiness in my throat and immediately start coughing. And when I wake up in the mornings I am beyond stuffy and congested. And today, my body has become achey.

It could just be my hypochondriac side coming out and convincing me that our apartment is full of mold and is un-liveable or it could be that my co-worker who was practically dying all last week [yet still came in to work] may have passed his cold or flu on to me. It could aaalso be allergies.

I'm not sure what it is but I feel like someone [and I'm thinking they have a big butt] is sitting on my chest and it hurts SO bad when I breathe and cough! I can't stop coughing either and even laughing brings on a bad coughing fit. Poor people who have made me laugh this week, I may have yelled at them :(

I keep going back to the apartment thing though. Could the air ducts need a good cleaning? Would a dirty a/c filter affect me this badly? Is there mold in our apartment and if so, would it even hit me this quickly? I'm kinda freaking out, y'all. Ronnie did admit he's been feeling a bit of scratchiness in his throat too when the a/c or heater comes on so tonight he is going to pick up a DIY mold test from Home Depot. Hopefully it will show nothing's wrong so I can move on and start focusing on my plot against my virus-carrying co-worker. Or you know, see a doctor.

Learning what NOT to do.

Jun 28, 2010

One of my younger cousins got married on June 19th in Houston and she looked AMAZING! She's always beautiful but it was over the top that day! :) They had the ceremony in a Catholic church and held the reception at a BEAUTIFUL hacienda looking venue. However, it's June. It's Texas. It's HOT. So the whole outdoor reception thing didn't go over too well with everyone, even with it being a late evening reception. It's making me re-think an outdoor wedding. Granted, ours will be early November, I just worry with my luck that it might be a muggy evening? If so, we saw first hand how miserable people are in that weather and how little fun they actually have! :(

I also learned that while a venue's main courtyard may be GORGEOUS, if it only holds 1/2 of your group, do NOT use it. A third of the people at the wedding (the ones who could handle the heat) were outside where the dancing was and the rest of us were seated in two seperate dining areas indoors. This does NOT make for good conversation or fun in general. We had no idea when the wedding speeches were going on, the first dance, etc. So when we finally found out about those things, we'd make our way outside to the courtyard to watch and then quickly make our way back inside to the A/C. So it was definitely a learning experience. I learned lots of other little tips but I won't bore you with all of that... But it was a beautiful wedding and I'm so happy for my cousin and her honey <3

Ronnie and I have been super homebodies lately so this is working in my favor - when it comes to wedding planning at least! He's crazy busy with his summer school workload so when I get home, he's doing homework and I kinda hang out for the evening alone. But he's working so hard on school and I'm so proud of him and I know he's doing it for us and our future. I love that boy so much! :)
