Learning what NOT to do.

Jun 28, 2010

One of my younger cousins got married on June 19th in Houston and she looked AMAZING! She's always beautiful but it was over the top that day! :) They had the ceremony in a Catholic church and held the reception at a BEAUTIFUL hacienda looking venue. However, it's June. It's Texas. It's HOT. So the whole outdoor reception thing didn't go over too well with everyone, even with it being a late evening reception. It's making me re-think an outdoor wedding. Granted, ours will be early November, I just worry with my luck that it might be a muggy evening? If so, we saw first hand how miserable people are in that weather and how little fun they actually have! :(

I also learned that while a venue's main courtyard may be GORGEOUS, if it only holds 1/2 of your group, do NOT use it. A third of the people at the wedding (the ones who could handle the heat) were outside where the dancing was and the rest of us were seated in two seperate dining areas indoors. This does NOT make for good conversation or fun in general. We had no idea when the wedding speeches were going on, the first dance, etc. So when we finally found out about those things, we'd make our way outside to the courtyard to watch and then quickly make our way back inside to the A/C. So it was definitely a learning experience. I learned lots of other little tips but I won't bore you with all of that... But it was a beautiful wedding and I'm so happy for my cousin and her honey <3

Ronnie and I have been super homebodies lately so this is working in my favor - when it comes to wedding planning at least! He's crazy busy with his summer school workload so when I get home, he's doing homework and I kinda hang out for the evening alone. But he's working so hard on school and I'm so proud of him and I know he's doing it for us and our future. I love that boy so much! :)

I love that you're really worried about your guests' comfort. :) That alone will ensure that they'll have a fantastic time! I've been to a few weddings and not everyone minds much - they just want butts in the seats, so to speak. :0
