the faux fall weekend

Happy Monday, y'all!

I feel like all my weekends lately have been especially lazy but hey, I'm not complaining. Ronnie's now the sick one so we didn't do much but we did have some bomb ass weather and that's truly all that matters in life. When you're used to humid 100+ temps every day, it's nice to have it drop about 10 degrees with no humidity. Us crazy Texas folk call that a "cool front". And it almost felt like Fall. Almost :)

Is it just me or are 4-day work weeks what dreams are made of?! I would never complain about work again if I only had to work 4 days! Or I could totally be making that up because work is still work ;) Last week super flew by though and I wish every week could feel like that!

Thursday was Girls Night ! We got crazay! Or as crazy as a bunch of moms can get at Chuy's with $3.75 margaritas! We were home by 9. Wild and crazy let me tell you ;) Friday, nothing to write home about but it was a good mail day. I got in my Old Navy order and some stuff for Violet from Children's Place and Baby Legs. That child is already spoiled, even with broke parents. ha

Saturday we left sick Ronnie at hope to rest and went out to do some shopping! We had a fun mother/daughter day that included my favorites: Old Navy, Target, Starbizzles aaand Sonic Happy Hour ;) Why does caffeine excite me so much?!

Yesterday was an even lazier day. Aren't all football days that lazy? Ronnie was still feeling sick so he rested which meant getting to sit there all day watching football. Poor guy. (insert sarcasm). I, on the other hand got to do a lot of cleaning/laundry which you know is always fun times! We only ventured out once for lunch and for some coffee. It was a gorgeous day again and with football mixed in, it really did feel like Fall ;)

Ronnie went back to school today so his days as a SAHD are no longer! I know he loves V like crazy (and is the BEST dad) but I know he also was ready to go back to "his" life. It had to be tough keeping her 10 hours a day while I was at work!

We had a great last week/weekend before school. Per usual, there were a couple trips to Target. I finally picked up V's dress there for our Fall family pictures - thank you Rhonda for showing it to me a couple weeks ago! Then at work on Friday we were treated to some yum-ass Kona Grill for a co-worker's birthday and had beer thirty at the end of the day. Nice start to the weekend!

Saturday we had a "family date" with my sweet friend Elizabeth, her hubby Eric and their cutie Hannah. We met up at the Pearl Brewery for the Farmer's Market, did some shopping there and at some cute nearby stores, then went for brunch. We had such a good time with them! That afternoon, we went to Ronnie's sister's and their dad BBQ'ed for us. We had a lot of fun with them too. It was a pretty long day for us though!

Sunday, V and I went to lunch with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday! I was nervous about how V would behave but she did so awesome. Her only freak out was at nap time. She gets that from her momma I think ;) After lunch we hung out at my parents' for a while and she got tons of attention from them, it was sweet!

Normally I hate Mondays but this one was almost welcome! This weekend was a tough one.

Violet was super needy all day Saturday (more so than the usual neediness of a baby) and would barely let me look away from her, let alone actually get anything done! I managed to clean some of the house but not what I'd planned on doing. I don't know how you SAHMs do it. Oy it was tiring.

I was hopefu for a better day Sunday but that didn't quite happen. We went to my sister's going away party which wasn't a huge party but just having the few aunts, uncles and my sister's best friends there made for a terrified Violet. She freaking cried her eyes out the moment someone tried to hold her or even just looked in her direction! Agh! Only my sister (she looooves her) and one of her best friends were able to hold her but everyone else? Nope.

So yeah, it was a tough weekend. I'm glad it's over and I just hope Violet isn't giving Ronnie too hard a time this week at home. As for her freaking out around small crowds, I'm not sure what to do. She's fine in large crowds and will even smile if a stranger comes up to see her. But small crowds where everyone's focused on her, she's not having it. Any advice, moms?

Our weekend was fun! Saturday we ran some errands and went shopping for birthday gifts for Ronnie's sister. She turned 30 a couple weeks ago (super old! ;) so we met up with his family for dinner that night which was a lot of fun!

While out shopping you KNOW I had to stop at Old Navy because it's super cash time! Which reminds me, do y'all have Old Navy's "snap appy" app? Download that sucker NOW. You just snap a picture of Old Navy logos and then it's like a little slot machine game and you can win coupon codes. I tried maybe 6 times and finally got a $15 off $75 code. holla! So not only did I get my $30 super cash to use in September, I got that awesome discount too.

So back onto topic ;) (shopping always throws me off!)
Yesterday, I took miss V to my parents' house and we hung out there all day while Ronnie had a "me" day. He so deserves it for being Mr. Mom all summer. I had my mom and sister's help with V all day and Ronnie had his free day so I'd say the day was a success :)

Monday Picture Time!

We had such a good weekend. Saturday my parents watched V so we could have a date day which I think we've had just one of since she was born! It was really nice running around shopping and going to eat with no worries...but of course we missed her the whole time. Even at dinner we sat there showing each other the pictures we've taken of Violet on our phones. ha! Ridiculous. Then yesterday was a fun family day. Having a baby makes going out tougher but we love dragging her around town with us ;)

So since it's Monday, that means time for me to blow you away with pictures of my amazing, jet setter life! Or maybe I just want to post more pictures of my daughter. Whathever works! :)

I wasn't kidding when I said I was going to overload this place with pictures from the past couple of weeks. Sorry if you're sick of looking at my kid but I'm not. (obviously.) ha! I even had to hold myself back and leave out quite a few pics so you lucked out that I'm only posting these! ;) Most you've already seen on Instagram if you follow me there (jeyreycupcake).

This Little Miss Bobcat shirt is size 6 months but clearly it's made much smaller because this girl could barely even fit in it and she still fits in most 3-6 months clothes! But since Ronnie bought this for her while I was preggo, I knew I had to squeeze her into it for some pictures. She's gotta rep her daddy's school! (Texas State). I think she looks pretty darn cute in her little jeans too.

The weekend in photos (of course)!

We had such a good weekend and it's always hard returning to work after that. Days like the past two make me long to be a SAHM but I know I gotta keep on truckin' no matter how irritated I am to come into work!!

And for my usual picture overload, I'm linking up with my faves, Ashlee & Savanah! :)

Last Tuesday when I got home from work I decided to try this onesie on Violet to see if it finally fit and it does! I was so excited to find that at Old Navy when I was pregnant with her.

Unfortunately that night after a quick trip to HEB, we returned home to our A/C going out! :( Nt a good thing when temps are still 80+ at night. So while Ronnie held down the fort and stayed with the animals, I took V to my parents' for the night...where she got to partake in her latest addiction, "watching" TV. And bad TV no less - The Real Housewives of Orange County! ha. She gets it from me and her Grandma.

The first pic was taken at nearly midnight! Girl would rather watch TV than sleep. ha. The second one was from the next morning. Watching TV, Al Bundy style!

I took the next day off work to deal with the A/C stuff and to keep the baby out of the house..At some point while that was going on, we tested our her umbrella stroller around the patio and backyard and got to watch Daddy do yard work :)

The rest of the work week is a blur because I got sick :/ Acid reflux/GERD (which I never even had until after having Violet) had me in pain for a full 24 hours and carried from Thursday into Friday. It was pure hell and I was the bad mom who couldn't even hold my child because I was so sick. Vomiting, chills and oh, the PAIN! None of my medications helped either but I finally felt better by mid Friday.

On Saturday I took V to hang out with my parents for a bit. We had a great time while Ronnie was at home cleaning up his car and getting it ready to sell.

And yesterday? It was the laziest day and it was wonderful. This little girl and I had a lot of bonding time and as usual, it makes leaving her on Mondays extra hard. She hung out like this while I was in the kitchen making bottles in the morning <3 Gah, that face!

We did a lot of creepin' on Daddy while he had people coming by the house to see his car...which he ended up selling last night! Yay!

Then Daddy did a lot of this which she loves! 

And then it poured off and on all afternoon and night. Loooove being home for days like this! (and btw, this is our side patio - our yard isn't that small. haha.)

Our end of June was great...Bring it on, July!

FYI: Most of these pictures you've seen on Instagram but others I haven't posted because I learned a cool little trick from Corrin! She posted on Twitter recently that if you put your phone in airplane mode, Instagram your picture and hit upload, the upload will fail but will still save to your Instagram picture folder on your phone. Cool huh? It's a good way to save some pics for your blog without having to annoy the crap out of people overload people's feeds! ;)

The Weekend + Photo Fun

Here's what we were up to this past weekend!

If I haven't said it enough, I can't believe how quickly Violet is growing and changing. She is currently obsessed with her feet and stretching out her legs. So much so that she can barely stay still in her carseat anymore so we unleashed her (ha) at HEB and she got a lot of attention for moves such as this :)

Per usual, Fridays are my favorite day of the week. Since our bosses are out of town I decided what better time to paint my nails and to partake in a lunch time happy hour with the co-workers! I don't get many breaks from Violet outside of work so I gotta fit in my "me time" somewhere, right? ;)

and have I told y'all how hot it is now? As if you haven't heard it from every other Texas blogger by now! Seeing this at 6:15 at night nearly ruined my weekend. But getting home to a little cutie hugging on her doll always makes things better.
  

Saturday we didn't even venture out until late to pick up a couple things at Target and then we headed to my parents' for my sister's ginormous graduation party. I'm so proud of my sister and I can't believe she'll be leaving us soon for TAMU CC! But we're really so super excited for her!

As soon as we arrived she wanted to hold "her baby" and Violet was good for oh, about 2 minutes until the rest of the party goers saw that she was there. Cue the freak out. She proceeded to scream pretty much all.night. She already wasn't feeling well, it was 7 pm and she had about 50 new faces coming at her so poor girl wasn't having a good time :/ Of course we got plenty of (unsolicited) advice and judgey comments like "My baby didn't have stranger anxiety until much later, I wonder why she's like this?".. Maybe because she's a genius and way ahead of the curve? Or maybe your ugly face is scaring her? But I digress.

Violet was great in her daddy's arms though and she even got to meet her little cousin Milo for the first time! :) Milo was born in May and is my cousin Mike's little boy, he is just the cutest thing! The proud daddies got to chat about their new roles and Ronnie finally got to call a little baby "Bubba"...I know deep down he wants his own little Bubba one day ;)

As for me and Milo's mama, Amy, we had a ton to talk about and she had plenty of questions for me. She mainly wanted to know that she would sleep again one day which I assured her she would. ha. Of course the tired moms got the end of the night picture, babes already in their onesies, Amy with her hair up and me with drool on my arm. Good times ;)

Sunday night was so relaxing. Trips to Home Depot, Target and HEB and the rest of the time was at home. Of course this and Ronnie taking the baby so I could nap for a couple hours was glorious. I'm so ready to take on the week now!

Father's Day Weekend Recap

This past weekend started off so perfectly. Fridays always put me in the best mood (obviously!) but even more so now that my bosses have allowed us to have "beer thirty" again which we hadn't done since before I was pregnant! In the afternoon my coworkers and I will run to HEB across the parking lot, buy some beer and pretzels and wait patiently for 5:30. Then we sit on our office balcony and drink for the last half hour of the work day. I may have a lot of complaints about my company but this ain't one of them! ha.

That night, Ronnie and I hung out at home with the babes and just relaxed. I toted her around in the Baby Bjorn a lot because that's her favorite way to be carried now, facing out. Apparently she's just too big now (at the old age of nearly 4 months) to be carried like a baby. ha. It was a good night!

Saturday, Violet woke up in such a great mood (and so did we) after a good night's sleep so we brought her to our bed and she started to halfway roll over! It was so funny because she'd roll to her side and just lay there so relaxed, like she was just too tired by this point to roll any further.

I decided since she was so hyper and happy that I would have a quick photo shoot with her in a couple outfits that she hasn't been photographed in. What I forgot is that she HATES having her clothes changed so that lasted oh, about 2 outfits :) But I got some really cute pictures on our digital camera. (these are from my phone!)

Then I caught up on cleaning and laundry and we did a whole lot of Violet entertaining. We finally pulled ourselves together at some point and went shopping for Father's Day gifts for our dads. After 3 stores, Violet had enough and we headed home for another laidback night.

Finally on Sunday morning I let Ronnie sleep in for Father's Day morning. It was a nice gesture but I was dying by 11 am and we were out.of.freaking.coffee!! When he got up, Violet and I were playing in her room and that's where we gave him his gift. Since we're trying to save money  he said no gifts but I had a Shutterfly.com coupon for a photo book so I jumped on that! (I'm dedicating an entire blog post to that amazing little book this week!). Unfortunately the really cute card I'd ordered Ronnie from Treat.com never showed up last week like it was supposed to! so I had to improvise and made a little outline of Violet's hand. It wasn't easy getting her little chub hands to stay down so it came out wonky but Ronnie loved it! Thankfully treat.com refunded my money and resent another card which should be here today or tomorrow.

Tutu's her nickname...I don't think I've ever mentioned that! ha

 

The rest of the morning was great, spent with our super smiley girl. Just last week she discovered her feet so she's constantly trying to grab them. It's so fun to watch!

That afternoon we met up with Ronnie's dad and two sisters at La Hacienda for lunch. Their patio is amazing! It's covered by tons of trees so even on hot days it doesn't feel like it. They had all their fans and misters on so that combined with the slight breeze was heaven! Apparently Violet thought so too because she crashed out at the beginning of the meal and didn't wake up once.

Ronnie's mom decided last minute to have a dinner for Ronnie's step dad so he went over there last night and me and the girl went to my parents'. We had a good time and she loved seeing them!

It was seriously a great weekend. I honestly couldn't have chosen a better man to be Violet's daddy and we're so lucky to have him. He's amazing with her and while SAHD/student was not a title he thought he'd ever have, he's a pro and I never once have to worry about him or give him instructions. He is just the best dad. and omg is Violet a Daddy's girl. She could be having the time of her life laughing and cooing at me but the moment Ronnie walks into the room, I am completely forgotten. And that's ok with me - I love that they love each other so much <3
